Recent research suggests that even if you don’t go to a gym, you can lower your risk of death by doing a few 1 or 2 minute bouts of vigorous intermittent lifestyle physical activity (VILPA as the researchers called them) per day. Examples of VILPAs include running up a flight of stairs and moving quickly from place to place.
The study concludes that even for non-exercisers (no gym activity), those individuals reduced their risk of death from any cause (including cancer) by 38% to 40% if they had three, one or two minute VILPAs per day as compared to those that did no activity. That’s pretty sweet!
